What is the CORE-10?

CORE-10 is a short derivative of CORE-OM used to track change across sessions. It has six problem items, three functioning items and one risk item, and no well-being items. It gives one total and no domain scores.

Development and clinical use

The CORE System was developed for routine evaluation in psychological therapies. CORE-10 was introduced as a briefer monitoring form. CORE System Trust oversees authorised use of some CORE products.

A focused client experience

Clients complete ten items, often repeatedly. Item-level review still matters, including any concerning risk-related response. Lirena does not provide urgent monitoring.

  • One question at a time with visible progress
  • Large keyboard-operable response choices
  • Previous, next, and answer-review steps
  • Clear confirmation that results go to the clinic

Designed to make evidence easy to review

The downloadable synthetic example illustrates report layout using invented response patterns, without patient data or instrument questions.

  • Named instrument, version, and provenance
  • Item-level response pattern without source wording
  • Methodology, references, and clinical boundary
  • Responsible clinician review rather than automated conclusions

Understand the measure and its scoring conventions

Items score 0 to 4, with items 2 and 3 reverse scored, and the ten items sum to 0-40. Six bands follow Connell and Barkham (2007), from Healthy (0-5) to Severe psychological distress (25-40). The clinical cut-off is 11.

Can I complete it here?

No. This page is educational.

Does Lirena monitor the CORE-10 risk item in real time?

No. Your clinic remains responsible for review and safeguarding.
