Female Sexual Function Index
The Female Sexual Function Index is a 19-item sexual-function self-report. Domain scores are item sums multiplied by published factors, and the full-scale score is their sum. It is not a diagnosis and not a public test.
Overview
What is the FSFI?
FSFI asks about sexual feelings and responses during the past 4 weeks across desire, arousal, lubrication, orgasm, satisfaction and pain. It supports clinician review of those domain scores. It does not diagnose a sexual problem and does not prescribe treatment.
Development and clinical use
Rosen and colleagues published the Female Sexual Function Index in 2000, with the questionnaire and a scoring appendix that sets the domain factors and score ranges. Wiegel, Meston and Rosen later reported a full-scale value of 26.55. Lirena records that value as the boundary between two full-scale bands.

Administration
A focused client experience
FSFI is completed as a focused self-report and stored for clinician review. This public page does not collect answers or return a score.
- One question at a time with visible progress
- Large keyboard-operable response choices
- Previous, next, and answer-review steps
- Clear confirmation that results go to the clinic
The illustration shows the question layout only.
Report showcase
Designed to make evidence easy to review
The downloadable synthetic example illustrates report layout using invented response patterns, without patient data or instrument questions.
- Named instrument, version, and provenance
- Item-level response pattern without source wording
- Methodology, references, and clinical boundary
- Responsible clinician review rather than automated conclusions
Clinician review required
Methodology
Understand the measure and its scoring conventions
Each item uses the published response code. Desire (items 1 and 2) is multiplied by 0.6 and ranges from 1.2 to 6.0. Arousal (items 3 to 6) and lubrication (items 7 to 10) are multiplied by 0.3 and range from 0 to 6.0. Orgasm (items 11 to 13), satisfaction (items 14 to 16) and pain (items 17 to 19) are multiplied by 0.4. Orgasm and pain range from 0 to 6.0, and satisfaction ranges from 0.8 to 6.0. The full-scale score is the sum of the six domain scores and ranges from 2.0 to 36.0. A domain score of 0 means no sexual activity in that domain that month. Full-scale bands are At or below 26.55 (2.0 to 26.5) and Above 26.55 (26.6 to 36.0).

Questions
What clinics ask before they evaluate the FSFI
These answers stay inside educational catalogue scope. They do not replace official manuals or clinician judgement.
Does FSFI diagnose a sexual problem?
No. It is a self-report inventory. Diagnosis remains a clinician task. The full-scale bands record a published numeric split and are not a diagnosis.
Can I complete FSFI here?
No. This page does not collect answers.
Is FSFI the same as DSDS?
No. DSDS is a decreased-desire screener. FSFI is a broader function index.
What does a domain score of 0 mean?
On the published scoring appendix, a domain score of 0 means there was no sexual activity in that domain during the past 4 weeks.
